A totally new, highly productive system of data search and storage has been worked out in the MEPhI laboratory of hybrid supertechnologies at The Department of Computer Systems and Technologies. Such systems are often used by large companies all over the world for storage of large volumes of data. For instance, when we look through the news line in Twitter or add photos in Facebook, our queries are addressed to giant clusters of data storage consisting of many units. The faster such clusters work the quicker the user gets the response.

The project of new hybrid computer system VAR, worked under the supervision of MEPhI employees Vasiliev N.P. and Rovniagin M.M. will not only increase such systems’ speed but will significantly broaden their functional capabilities. For example, hyprid GPGPU- coprocessors can be applied for online analysis of data from social nets, forecasting the views changes in the society analyzing text, pictures, video and other media content. With the help of such computing infrastructure you can identify potential threat in each region, make a rating of the most popular tendencies, look at the dynamics of the virus spread etc.

Previously, such researches demanded very expensive data centres, but now, due to the usage of new algorithms for GPGPU- coprocessors, the results can be achieved using available and compact hybrid computer clusters online.
