MEPhI transitioned from a system of schools and departments to integrated Strategic Academic Units (Institutes).
Strategic Academic Units (StrAUs) become the main structure element of the University combining the educational system, scientific and innovative activities, including:
- Focusing on the breakthrough areas where the University remains a recognized leader and it possess unique competencies and competitive excellence ;
- Active diversification and development of research in the related and interdisciplinary fields that complement MEPhI’s traditional research agenda to meet global challenges;
- Implementation of the breakthrough research projects both in traditional and new areas of research as a core element of StrAUs’ scientific research agenda;
- Further integration into the global educational community: development of new joint international educational programs (e.g. nuclear medicine, IT, high-performance computing) with new partners from different regions, strengthening interaction on the existing programs, the application of best international practices.
