MEPhi hosts the winter physics and mathematics school for future entrants
11.01.2016

Between 4th and 6th January in the MEPhI University Lyceum № 1523, it has being hosted the Winter school of mathematics and physics for winners and prize-winners of school Olympiads.

Immediately after the Christmas holidays at the Lyceum gathered "creme de la creme" of the Olympiad movement in the country: on the one hand, it is more than 100 students who had become winners and prize-winners of Olympiads of different levels, with other organizers, developers, and members of the jury all-Russian Olympiad in mathematics and physics Olympiads of MEPhI, other competitions of high level. The school was not feasible for everyone: despite the fact that it was held for the first time, the contest was about two people in place, and the organizing Committee had to choose the most worthy. The geography of participants was wide. The students came from Smolensk, Glazov, Lipetsk, Ryazan and Kovrov. About thirty percent of participants were our students who participate in the work of the school will surely help as at the Olympics, and in the current study and pass the exam.

The scope of these classes was wide. There were talks about solving of typical tasks from all-Russia and International Olympiads in Mathematics, problems on inverse trigonometric functions, sequences, trigonometric inequality. In the second and third day for the school of physics focused on solving experimental problems (like the pilot round of the all-Russian Olympiad) and parsing errors.

The organization of the school – logistics, organization of classes, meals, assistance with the administration of the Lyceum (Director of A. B. Pastukhov, deputy Mishin T. G.) and the volunteers were above all praise.

It is necessary to mention another important feature of the MEPhI school. Our school, including meals, was completely free for participants (Great thanks to the MEPhI managment). Such events create a positive image of our University in the eyes of our prospective students.
