From 22 to 26 December the University has held the Scientific session MEPhI-2015-2. During this period there were scientific conferences and round tables of University’s Centres of excellence, thematic sections and also a Plenary meeting.

MEPhI has started to form initiatives in order to participate in competition of scientific projects in the framework of the Project 5-100. This task was set at the project session “Strategy of scientific and educational structural subdivisions of MEPhI”, held on 18 December. Within a week several groups of leading scientists and employees of MEPhI developed proposals, which were presented for the experts’ consideration on December 26. Representatives of the Centre for strategic research headed by its President Vladimir Knyaginin noted efficient work of MEPhI initiative teams. At the same time Vladimir Nikolaevich highlighted some points following the results of reports.

First, centers should focus on its place within MEPhI: how it contributes to institutional performance in general and to fulfillment of a roadmap to enhance competitiveness in particular. It is necessary to secure the orderly development of initiatives: how projects are implemented, what steps are taken and what has changed drastically.

Than the expert said, each project is required to choose a prototype. He noted that groups had shown good progressed in this direction.

The last thing mentioned by the expert was a financial model of the project. Groups need to know where they receive money for their needs.

At the end of the speech, Vladimir Nikolaevich expressed hope for further progress in the development of strategic projects.
