On the 30th of October MEPhI in conjunction with the company Immers, a SKOLKOVO resident (www.immers.ru), has successfully completed the first phase of the project to create the new processing center “Cherenkov”.

Informatization Management of MEPhI conducted a remote testing of a similar in parameters cluster IMMERS for the purpose of choosing a correct configuration of the processing system, taking into account the specifics of applied tasks of the University. It took only 5 working days to assembly the system in MEPhI.

The cooling technology, which is unique for the Russian market, has a number of advantages, important for educational institutions. The noise from the working cluster does not exceed 50 dB due to the absence of ventilators, and a hermetic cooling system (electronic components are washed by a special coolant) does not require the purchase of additional air conditioners and necessary infrastructure expansion of the MEPhI Data processing center.

It’s planned to put the computer system “Cherenkov” into operation by the end of 2015.
