The international scientific-practical conference “Threats and risks for the economies of BRICS countries” has started in MEPhI. On the 10th of November, the first of the three day conference, participants listened to the Director of the Federal service for financial monitoring Yu.A. Chikhanchin, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation A.A. Klimov, the Head of the Federal Agency of scientific organizations of the Russian Federation M.M. Kotyukov, the rector of MEPhI M.N. Strikhanov, the Deputy Director of the Federal service for financial monitoring, Director of the Institute of financial and economic security MEPhI V.I. Glotov, and experts from the BRICS countries.
The Director of the Federal service for financial monitoring Yu.A. Chikhanchin expressed confidence in the need to rethink approaches of member states to the improvement of economies in the conditions of “financial disturbance”. Also the head of Rosfinmonitoring specified main existing risks, which involve the purity and transparency of financial institutions, which reflect the state of “health” of the economy; the problem of international terrorism; the low level of financial literacy of the population.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation A.A. Klimov noted that currently development of cooperation among BRICS countries was held at a rapid pace. Everyone understands that the future of the economy and industry of BRICS countries depends primarily on the development level of human capital, which is the main objective of the system of higher education in the BRICS countries.
A.A. Klimov told about a number of research and network projects, which received considerable attention. One of them is creation of the Network University of BRICS countries, which promotes sustainable development of member countries of the Association through training of highly qualified specialists.
The rector of MEPhI M.N. Strikhanov also said a salutatory word to participants of the conference. He focused attention on the University’s very strong unit of information technologies, which is the basis of effective cooperation with Rosfinmonitoring. “We are proud that this interdisciplinary field that combines information technologies with the financial component is in active development”, – said the rector.
