The 4th of September is the Day of a specialist in nuclear security in Russia. On this day a Directive on the establishment of a Special Department of the General staff (which was professionally engaged in the problems of nuclear weapons) was published in 1947. This date is considered to be a birthday of the 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

During 68 years the 12th Main Directorate has successfully met challenges to ensure nuclear parity of the Russian Federation.

At the festive meeting its head, major general Sych U.G. praised the collaborative work with the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” in preparing students in the interests of research and testing divisions of the Directorate.

That day veterans of the 12th Main Directorate, who participated in preparation and conduct of nuclear tests, visited the exhibition at the Moscow Manege, which is devoted to the 70th anniversary of the nuclear industry.
