According to the international ranking of universities Round University Ranking (RUR) MEPhI has taken the 2nd place among Russian universities and the 1st among universities participating in the project 5-100.

The rating RUR 2015 includes universities from 76 countries of the world. Among Russian universities the 1st place is occupied by Lomonosov Moscow State University (187 in the world), 2nd – National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (296 in the world, and 136 in quality of teaching), 3rd – Tomsk State University (369 in the world).

The RUR Rankings is published by an independent Rating Agency RUR from 2013. This system ranks 750 leading universities in the world by 20 indicators grouped into 4 areas: teaching (40%), research (40%), international diversity (10%), financial sustainability (10%).

Along with high positions in the Russian segment, MEPhI has also shown a good growth dynamics in world ranking, taking one of the best places among national universities rising from 531 to 296 place over the period 2012-2015.
