MEPhI has started an exciting and at the same time very useful event for freshmen – “MEPhI: user manual”.

Hundreds of yesterday’s school leavers have joined the University. MEPhI team is always glad to welcome newcomers and willing to help them. But freshmen are still a little nervous about how quickly they can become a part of this united community, find new friends, cope with all the challenges of the educational process, and just orient in University’s passages. That’s why at the end of August MEPhI organizes the first and perhaps one of the most important event for freshmen – “MEPhI: user manual”. It has been successfully held since 2013 by the United Council of MEPhI Students and year by year it is becoming more large-scaled.

Supervisors spend almost the whole day with guys and do everything so that MEPhI will become a new home for new students: talk about the University, its history and traditions, educational, scientific, social, cultural and sport life. And there are also a mini-tour, when young people learn about the location of lecture halls, laboratories, departments, canteens, etc. So they learn where and how to get excellent knowledge and where to relax.

It is important to note that this year User Manual became international – specially for foreign students from Turkey, Vietnam, Bangladesh and many other countries. It is clear that it’s much more difficult to adapt for foreigners because of language barrier and cultural differences. The event for these guys is organized by an International Friendship Club “Unity MEPhI”, created last year to help foreign students, the number of which has been steadily increasing every year. Supervisors from the Unity will not only tell about the University, but will also hold various excursions around Moscow.

The event is held separately for each Faculty, but on the 1st of September freshmen will meet together at a festive and colorful holiday – Day of freshman, where after the traditional initiation ceremony will become real students of MEPhI!
