From 12 to 18 July 2015 Kaluga region has hosted an international forum of young power engineers and industrialists “Forsage”.
This year was the anniversary for the event – it is already five years as it attracts more than 500 participants and 150 invited guests who share their experience with young specialists of the nuclear, fuel and energy industries. In 2015 “Forsage” was attended by 800 delegates from seven countries.
The main objective of the forum was to create a unified communication environment, aimed at formation and development of creative thinking and technological culture, and dissemination of principles of culture of lean production and efficiency improvement. Participants of the event are talented students, postgraduates, young engineers (under 35 years) of energy industries, as well as representatives of personnel reserve of a State Corporation “Rosatom”.
There were nine flows at “Forsage-2015”: Personnel reserve of Rosatom; Innovative flow; Social partnership; International flow; Production systems of Russia; Energopolis; Technopolis; Rosseti and Information flow. All forum participants received new knowledge, skills and abilities by visiting lots of different mini-trainings, business games, master classes and seminars from leading experts in the nuclear industry.
One of the main events of the forum was a visit of the General Director of SC “Rosatom” Sergey Kiriyenko, who gave a lecture on the Rosatom strategy on a global nuclear energy market, answered questions of participants and conducted two trainings on improving efficiency and teamwork. In addition, the Rosatom head met with the President of Boeing in Russia and the CIS Sergei Kravchenko. The representative of an aircraft holding company was also participating in the forum as an expert, gave a lecture about lean production system, which is successfully applied in the company.
“International flow” was presented for the first time. It was organized by MEPhI and the CIS Internet-school of remote nuclear education on the initiative of the CIS Committee on the peaceful use of atomic energy. Within this interaction MEPhI is the basic educational platform for training of specialized personnel. The flow was headed by Pavel Belousov, Deputy Dean of a Physics and Energy faculty for scientific affairs of INPE MEPhI. Also he is a Head of the EurAsEC online school and a Head of a working group on personnel training for EurAsEC member states.
The “International flow” was attended by 22 young representatives of relevant organizations of CIS countries. On the forum they were suggested to choose one of a number of problems, work out various decisions and create a final project, after which they presented results to experts. While they were finding an optimal solution participants attended workshops and listened to lectures by representatives of the nuclear sector.
Also it’s worth to note the “Innovation flow”, which consisted of 35 winners of a correspondence stage of a competition “Innovative leader of the nuclear industry”. On July 17, they presented their scientific and technical solutions to the jury of the forum and the leadership of the SC “Rosatom”. The expert jury included: Deputy General Director - Director of the Unit for innovation management of the State Corporation “Rosatom” Vyacheslav Pershukov, MEPhI Pro-rector Anatoly Petrovsky, Director General of Leipunsky Institute of Physics and Power Engineering Andrey Goverdovsky, General Director of Troitsk Institute for Innovation and Thermonuclear Research Vladimir Chercovets, Director of JSC “Giredmet” Nikolay Mantcevich, Head of educational programs of a Block on innovation management Pavel Sushkov and others.
Competitive works were devoted to perspective key business areas of the Corporation: generation of energy, new types of fuels, disposal of radioactive waste, nuclear medicine, security systems, high temperature superconductors, fast reactor technology, as well as a direction associated with development of new products and new markets for the nuclear industry.
In addition to project work the forum has an extensive entertainment and educational program. Guys attended classes in folk crafts, forging, floristics, soap making and others. Also “Forsage” arranged three factories, which operated on the principle of the “Rosatom” Production system (lean production): preparation of drinks and desserts, dressmaking for children from Kaluga orphanage and production of notebooks and pens from recycled materials. Almost all participants of the forum were involved in it.
A first-year student of a MEPhI Faculty “Cybernetics and Information Security” Yuri Timofeev was among participants of the Youth forum “Forsage”, who is also a sound engineer of the MEPhI radio “Impulse”. At the invitation of radio “Country of Rosatom” he got to the Information flow.
“A lot of distinguished experts came here to give us a lot of useful information. Besides teaching there are a variety of recreational activities, games. One day we even built airships from balloons and frames. And the winners of this contest received an opportunity to fly in a helicopter with Sergey Kireenko! In general I really like to be here. Get out of the comfort zone, live in tents with 800 such enthusiasts and, the main thing – to solve a common task, it's a real fun!”, Yuri shared his impressions.
