Results of Interregional competition “Information technologies” among schoolchildren

On June, 13 Moscow has hosted the final of an Interregional Olympiad in Information technology among schoolchildren. Students of University Lyceum № 1511 of MEPhI Preuniversitary are among the winners.
The competition was held to identify and support talented young people and to promote education in the field of information and communication technologies, as well as to attract young people to actively participate in national and international IT projects. The contest was organized by the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI”, and an educational holding “Successor”. The event was supported by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, and Cisco was an official partner of the Olympiad.
According to the results of a qualifying round, which was held on the 16th of May with more than 1400 participating schoolchildren, the finalists were 28 pupils from Alagir, Buzuluk, Velikiy Novgorod, Dubna, Izhevsk, Kaliningrad, Moscow, Petrozavodsk, St. Petersburg, Saransk, Staraya Russa, Taraskovo village, Shlisselburg and Yaroslavl.
The finalists had to perform a number of practical tasks: to collect a computer system unit, delete viruses, connect to a network printer and services of IP telephony, configure network access to files of operating system, and also solve a problem of network topology analysis. In addition, participants were required to organize work of a web server, showing skills of working with Windows and Linux in virtual environments. The theme of competition tasks was developed on a basis of a program Cisco Networking Academy “IT Basics: hardware and software” (IT Essentials).
In the end, Nikolai Korolev, a University student of a Lyceum № 1511 of MEPhI Preuniversitary, is among winners of the Interregional competition “Information technology” among school children.
