On 23 June 2015 MEPhI has been visited by a delegation of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. The visit was carried out in the framework of a round table “Francis Bacon and Russian culture”, held in Moscow with the support of a Ss Cyril and Methodius School of Post-Graduate and Doctoral Studies.

A coordinator of the round table, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, MEPhI Professor, a head of a Department “Philosophy” of the Ss Cyril and Methodius School of Post-Graduate and Doctoral Studies V.N. Katasonov warmly welcomed all participants and expressed a hope that our University would establish close relationships with Italian colleagues.

An acting head of a Center of humanitarian research and technology A.S. Nevzorov welcomed participants on behalf of the MEPhI. He told about activities of the University, its significance as one of the leading universities in Russia and in the world. Also, he acquainted Italian colleagues with the implementation of the MEPhI Program of competitiveness increasing. A.S. Nevzorov expressed wishes to establish close scientific, educational and cultural contacts with the Rome University “La Sapienza” and noted that “MEPhI has a long history of friendship and cooperation with many scientific and educational institutions of Italy”.

Professor of the “La Sapienza” University Giuseppe Di Giacomo presented the main report of the round table on “Artwork and icons in works of Pavel Florensky”. The report aroused a great interest among the participants; some of its theses were thoroughly discussed.
