MEPhI students meet University's administration

On May 28 there was a meeting of students with MEPhI rector. More than 300 undergraduate and postgraduate students – representatives of student self-government and all who care about the University – came to an Assembly hall to express their concerns and provide suggestions in an informal dialogue with the University leadership.

Anticipating some questions administration presented main goals and objectives of the University for the near future, spoke about their vision of relationships between students and management. Then meeting was continued in the format of answers to written and oral questions from students. Each participant had an opportunity to address a University rector Mikhail Strikhanov, Vice-rectors, Deans and heads of Departments.

During four hours of intensive work students had an opportunity to discuss ways of solving their problems and could feel importance of their participation in development of the University. During the meeting they discussed various aspects of student life: living conditions in hall of residence, quality of food in University cafeterias, possibility of medical care in a MEPhI canteens, facilities for sports and art, scholarships and many others.

Every question was answered. The rector often gave the floor to heads of relevant divisions, gave them instructions and set a date to settle issues raised by students.

At all students asked University’s representatives more than 40 questions and it was undoubted that such a meeting was necessary for both parties. According to students, communication with the leadership was very useful because it provided an opportunity to get information from the first hand. And for the administration it was a good way to evaluate satisfaction degree of students with various aspects of University life.

At the end of the event Mikhail Strikhanov thanked all participants for their active position and expressed hope for continuation of a constructive dialogue in a regular format.
