On the 6th of May MEPhI has held a meeting dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic war. Veterans, representatives of the administration, faculty and staff of the University and young people – students, graduate students and students of specialized colleges were together. It is the youth, who will preserve historical memory of heroes who gave their lives in the fight against the enemy, and will pass it to future generations. The honor guard, comprised of the best cadets of the Military Department of the University, held a copy of the Victory banner and MEPhI flag.

Lots of people said warm words of congratulations on the Great holiday – rector of the MEPhI M.N. Strikhanov, Chairman of the MEPhI Board of veterans N.S.Pogozhin, academic supervisor of the Basov Higher school of physicists O.N. Kokhin, head of the Department of cultural and mass work A.S. Nevzorov. Special solemnity and importance of the festive event was given by a participation of a direct witness of those terrible events, participant of the Great Patriotic war, the oldest employee of the University M.I. Faikov.

On the morning of the same day MEPhI representatives participated in the ceremony of laying flowers to the Memorial of the Eternal light on the Red square. They brought a part of it from the Aleksandrovsky Garden to MEPhI. The staff and students of the University honored memory of the fallen in the Great Patriotic war with a minute of silence.

The event continued with a concert prepared by creative groups of the University. The whole evening participants read poems and songs about war, congratulated and said warm words to veterans.
