Thirteen of the most published and cited Russian scientists, as well as the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” have received an International research award “Scopus Award Russia 2015”, is said in a press release of the Organizing Committee.
The awards ceremony was held in the Innovation center SKOLKOVO in the framework of the forum “Tools of state incentives for cooperation of scientific and educational institutions with business environment in the field of applied research”. Among the winners-2015 there are employees of RAS institutes, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology and other research and training centres.
National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” received prize in the special nomination “For outstanding contribution to popularization of science in Russia and abroad”.
Award was established by the largest scientific publishing house Elsevier. As award organizers pointed out, Scopus is an objective indicator of scientific achievement: “Contribution of the individual scientist in the development of science is measured by the amount of published scientific articles and a citation index in the international media – thus, subjective evaluation is excluded”.
Amount of published articles is indexed with the world's largest database Scopus, which contains more than 19 thousand scientific, technical and medical journals, and more than five thousand international publications, including Russian.
“Scopus award winners develop advanced researches in Russia and around the world. This forum has become a vivid manifestation of Russia's commitment to the promotion of scientific innovations and growth through interdisciplinary dialogue and cooperation. We are honored to support Russian scientific community with high-quality content and innovative digital technologies”, said the Chairman of the Elsevier Board of Directors Youngsuk Chi at the ceremony.
The Scopus award was held for the first time in China in 2004. Since then the most published and cited authors in Latin America, Asia, and Europe receive this award. In Russia the prize is awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science jointly with the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations, Skolkovo Foundation and International News Agency “Rossiya Segodnya” (Russia today).
