MEPhI Master's program opens its doors to entrants

On March 21 MEPhI has held an Open Day for applicants to Master’s degree program. Several hundred students and graduates not only fr om MEPhI, but also from other universities of Moscow attended the event.

The master’s course is the second level of the modern Russian system of higher education in accordance with the Bologna process of convergence and harmonization of higher education systems of European countries with the aim of creating a single European higher education area. Today the existence of master's programs in the domestic leading universities is a precondition for Russia for entry into international educational space.

Development of the magistracy system has become one of the priority directions of educational activity of the MEPhI. Since 2011 the University has been training masters for Russia and foreign countries in the most important areas of development of fundamental and applied science and modern technologies, preparing graduates for areas of engineering economics, management, nuclear law and international scientific and technological cooperation.

Opening the event, the head of the Master's Program Department A.M. Maslennikov noted that the interest in obtaining a master's degree in MEPhI was growing steadily. He expressed confidence that it happened due to the prospects and benefits, which students achieved in teaching activities and after its completion. A graduate of MEPhI master’s program is a ready practitioner, having not only fundamental knowledge in his field, but also sufficient practical experience. A master's degree course gives an opportunity for a successful career in Russian and international companies, wh ere it is recognized along with other diplomas of foreign educational institutions.

Today the University offers its applicants 70 educational programs and 18 areas of training. Deans of Faculties told in details about educational peculiarities and subjects of scientific research, laboratory facilities and faculty, as well as about employment prospects of its graduates. So participants had an opportunity to verify that master’s programs of the University concentrate the best training courses, and that scientific, laboratory and educational potential of the University is implemented to the greatest extent at the master’s level.

At the end of the meeting the head of the Master's Program Department A.M. Maslennikov informed about admission rules of the MEPhI in 2015. This year it is planned to adopt about 550 people in the framework of admission quotas. Receiving of documents will be carried out by the Admission Committee from April 15 to August 7, 2015 with the announcement of admission results on the official website of the MEPhI after August 15.
