On February 25 MEPhI has held the first (academic) round of the III All-Russian Student Olympiad on Information Security. It was attended by students of bachelor degree course and specialist programme of 3-5 year of studies.

Participants were offered tasks on the following topics:

• Simple substitution ciphers and transpositions;
• Fundamentals of theory of finite fields;
• Pseudorandom number generators with Linear feedback shift register (LFSR);
• Computer viruses. Methods of anti-virus protection;
• Technical channels of voice data leakage: special studies of acoustic and vibro-acoustic channels;
• Special studies of technical tools and systems for the possibility of information leakage due to side electromagnetic radiation (physical nature of stray electromagnetic radiation).

The winners of the first stage of the Olympiad on Information Security become students of the Faculty “Cybernetics and Information Security”:

1st place: Lubov Poplavkova (K08-122), Anastasia Chernova (K08-122);
2nd place: Olga Kopytina (K08-123);
3rd place: Olga Sukhova (K08-121).

We invite MEPhI students, not older than 25 years at the time of the event, studying on Bachelor's, Specialist's or Master's degree programme in training areas 10.0x.0x (090xxx) and 09.0x.0x (230xxx), and who are interested in information security, to participate in the 2nd stage of All-Russian Olympiad.

In accordance with the Plan of national student Olympiads of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in 2015 on the MEPhI basis there will be the final of All-Russian (third) stage of the All-Russian student Olympiad on the following schedule:

from 17 to 20 April 2015 the following areas: Information Security, Automation, Electronics and Microelectronics;
from 24 to 27 April – Physics;
from 15 to 17 May 2015 – Nuclear Physics and Technologies.
