MEPhI is among Russian leading universities in top-100 in QS University Rankings: Developing Europe and Central Asia 2014/15

The first rating of the new coverage “QS University Rankings: Developing Europe and Central Asia 2014/15” has been published on Wednesday. It covers 30 countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

Russia is the leader in the number of universities, ranked in the top 100, in this group of countries and it heads a rating table (1st place – MSU). In all there are 26 Russian universities in the first hundred, including the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI”, which won the 8th position (34th in overall rating). Moreover the index of “scientific citing of publications” of the University is on the 1st place among all universities participating in the rating.

During the compilation of the new rating it investigated 368 universities, 255 of which have never been in the QS rankings. The following criteria for the evaluation of universities were used: academic reputation, reputation among employers, the ratio of the number of students and staff of the faculty, the share of foreign teachers and foreign students, the percentage of employees with a degree, the effectiveness of Internet resources, the number of published articles per one employee of the teaching staff and the number of citations per published article.
