November 26-28, 2014 the second scientific conference “ATOMTECH-2014. Electrophysics” has taken place in the MEPhI. It was organized by the State Corporation “Rosatom”, the management company of the Innovation management unit of the JSC “Science and innovation” and the MEPhI. The aim of the conference was to discuss the current state and prospects of evolvement of scientific and technological developments based on knowledge and experience, which were gained during the development of domestic nuclear technologies.
Scientific forum was attended by over 200 people - heads of research areas, leading scientists from organizations of the SC “Rosatom”, RAS institutes, National Research Centre “Kurchatov Institute”, Association of Rosatom supporting institutions and others.
Opening the conference the Deputy General Director - Director of the Unit for innovation management of the SC “Rosatom” V.A. Pershukov identified the main purpose of the forum, which is not only to show and assess the level of scientific developments, but to promote generation of new ideas, aimed at identifying the most promising directions and projects. V.A. Pershukov noted the high level of students’ preparation in MEPhI, whose knowledge will soon become popular in the interests of the SC “Rosatom”.
The conference included plenary and section sessions. Unlike the first conference “ATOMTECH-2013”, which presentations covered all areas of nuclear science, the theme of the “ATOMTECH-2014” related to electrophysics problems.
The conference addressed development issues of nuclear medicine, superconducting industry (including development and production of high-temperature superconductors and products based on it), laser and plasma technologies, pulse techniques, additive technologies; it condemned the problem of application of radiation technology for sterilization and purification, modification of materials and coatings.
In total there were presented more than 50 papers in various areas of nuclear science, or another fields related to electrophysics. Invited experts in the nuclear industry also made speeches on these topics.
The organizers and participants of scientific event noted that results of the conference are to play an important role in determining directions of development of scientific and technological complex of SC “Rosatom”.
