From 5 to 7 November MEPhI has hosted the IX international conference “Modern diagnostics of plasma and its application”. The conference is held every two years, and is organized by the Department of plasma physics of the MEPhI Center for plasma laser researches and technologies.
The conference discussed current developments and researches in the field of modern methods of diagnosis, both of high-temperature plasma of fusion installations and low temperature plasma of gas discharges in research and technological installations. Special attention was paid to the diagnostics of laser plasma and laser-optical diagnostics methods.
Along with the staff, graduates and students of the MEPhI Plasma Center the conference was attended by scientists from leading research institutes and universities from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sarov, Tomsk, Kazan and others. Foreign participants of the conference represented Belgium (UGhent), Germany (German Aerospace Centre), Belarus (B. I. Stepanov Institute of Physics, BSU) and Kazakhstan (IAE NNC RK). A significant number of reports (from a total number of 54) were presented by students, postgraduates, young scientists and specialists.
Best reports will be selected by the program Committee for publication in the journals “Nuclear physics and engineering” and “Plasma Physics”. 8 best papers of young scientists and graduate students were awarded diplomas of the 1st and 2nd degree.
Conference participants noted the breadth of subjects and the high level of events organization in MEPhI.
