27.09.2014

On September 25, 2014 the Vienna center for nuclear competences was presented in conjunction with the 58th session of the General conference of the IAEA.

The presentation was held under the slogan “Never, Never surrender” and was attended by representatives of organizations of the nuclear sector, the Austrian government organizations, educational institutions and the IAEA.

The presentation was also attended by correspondents of AtomInfo.Ru and AtomInfo.Bg.

“Together we can always do more than individually. We want to maintain nuclear competence, and for this we unite”, said the participants.

Nuclear expert, specialist in nuclear industry is a piece-goods. His knowledge and experience cannot be lost. It is also impossible when social, economic or other reasons become a barrier between the atomic scientists of different countries. It is considerations that guided the founders of the Vienna Center.

Why the Center is formed in Vienna? As it was joked at the presentation, because it serves the best coffee in the world and nuclear research is unthinkable without coffee. Actually, Vienna has turned into a global center for nuclear discussions, which cover all aspects of the development of nuclear energy – from technology to politics.

Specialists from many countries have shown interest in participating in the work of the Vienna International Nuclear Competences Center (VINCC). For example, it’s expected that Indian nuclear scientists will actively participate in it.

Among Russian potential participants we can highlight MEPhI, which was represented at the presentation by a large delegation headed by the principal of the University Mikhail Strikhanov.

VINCC is a public organization with an open membership. Currently it’s completing the legal procedures related to the registration of a new Association in the Austrian state authorities. As expected, opening of the Center will become possible in 15-20 days.
