The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has published the list of 500 best schools of Russia: http://minibrowser/static/Top500School.html. MEPhI Preuniversity is in the Top 25 of the best schools, which showed high educational outcomes in the 2013-2014 academic year. The Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets said that almost all schools, included in the Top 25, provide not only quality education but also professionally form the personality of the child. The Top 25 includes 12 schools from Moscow and the rest are from St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk oblast, Tatarstan, Mordovia, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Saratov, Tambov and Vologda regions. Among the 25 best Russian schools 6 schools are at universities, including Preuniversity of the MEPhI.

Preuniversity of the MEPhI was established in October 2013 on the base of the University Lyceum № 1511 and 1523 within the pilot project of the Education Department of Moscow on organization of specialized education in universities.
