A new web ranking of world universities, published on August 2, is based on systematic data of more than 12,000 universities and academic institutions in the world.
According to the rating MEPhI website is on the fourth place among resources of Russian universities (641th place in the global ranking).
In all the first thousand of the rating includes nine Russian universities – Lomonosov Moscow State University (122), Novosibirsk State University (486), Saint Petersburg State University (492), MEPhI (641), Higher School of Economics (781), Southern Federal University (810), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (836), Saratov State University (985), ITMO University (985).
The Webometrics ranking is compiled by the Spanish National Research Council and has been published twice a year since 2004. This ranking is based on criteria of universities activity on the Internet, as well as on quality and quantity of information on the University’s website. The ranking takes into account the number of indexed pages of the website, the number of external links, citation index and other factors.
