About 45 billion rubles is going to be allocated for increasing competitiveness of 15 Russian universities and their entering into the world rankings in 2014-2016 years. The Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Dmitry Livanov said about it on June 27.
“Substantial money is allocated to the program of competitiveness increase of Russian universities in the world. It is about 45 billion rubles in 2014-2016. The entire project is up to 2020”, - the Minister said.
In July 2013 the list of 15 Russian universities was determined that will receive subsidies for entry into the world rankings. It includes: Far Eastern Federal University, Kazan Federal University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, National University of Science and Technology “MISIS”, National Research Tomsk State University, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, National Research University “Higher school of economics”, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, National Research University Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod, Novosibirsk State University, Samara State Aerospace University named after academician S. P. Korolev, St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University, St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, Ural Federal University.
The list is based on the results of an open competition on the right of receiving special subsidies, which was declared on May 8, 2013 in the framework of realization of the presidential decree of the 7th of May 2012 on ensuring entry of at least five Russian universities into the top 100 world's leading universities by the year 2020.
