On March 26, 2014 MEPhI has held the next round of the All-Russian contest of innovative projects in the field of IT-technologies “IT Breakthrough”.
The project is conducted with the support of OJSC “Russian electronics”, the state Corporation “Rostechnology” and Softline Company and aims to identify and support breakthrough projects in the IT field, to create comfortable conditions for innovators’ work in Russia. Nominations, announced in the Contest, cover IT-solutions in the sphere of education, designing of electronic component base, security, medicine.
More than 40 Russian universities have taken part in the Competition, which representatives presented about 350 research projects. At the moment 12 stages have already passed at the universities of Moscow, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, Omsk, Samara, Kazan.
“Russian electronics” representatives emphasized that company’s enterprises need qualified specialists, who are able to invent and implement new ideas.
At the first Contest stage judges chose four best innovative MEPhI projects from various fields of IT-technologies.
Student of the Department № 71 Ekaterina Markova proposed a solution to the problem of quality and speed of railway transportation through introduction of intellectual system for control of rolling stocks. Postgraduate student Stanislav Fesenko introduced the project to protect the vehicle from being stolen on the basis of a mobile device.
In the field of IT-medicine there was selected a project of gamma-locator, which development is occurred in the Department №40; the project was presented by Anastasia Yagnyukova, developer and a student of the MEPhI.
One of the most interesting projects is the project “EYE”, which is created together with the MEPhI Department “Sociology”. It proposes the creation of a system for analyzing the man’s look and his reactions that to build dependences, similar to those that polygraphs demonstrate. This development is created to improve existing technologies of lie detection and to provide opportunities for social and marketing researches.
The final of the Competition takes place in April. Winners will be recorded and awarded winners' diplomas and valuable prizes.
