On March 21 in MEPhI there was held the second meeting of the Scientific Seminar "Strategy of development of nuclear energy in Russia." After the first seminar in December 2012 in Presidium of the Academy of Sciences there were discussed various areas of development of the nuclear industry and prepared a number of reviews and other materials that were brought for discussion before the second session of the seminar.

The moderators of the event were the Deputy Director of the State Corporation "Rosatom" - Vyacheslav Pershukov and Rector of MEPhI - Mikhail Strikhanov. The theme of the meeting of the seminar was "The role of nuclear energy in the energy balance of Russia and of the world until 2100”.

In the frame of the seminar there were discussed actively different reports. The participants expressed their views and shared academic experience. V.A. Pershukov underlined in his concluding speech the importance of the discussions and encouraged the participants to continue the analytical work concerning the prospects for energy development, taking into account the maximum number of influencing factors. It was decided to hold such seminars systematically in MEPhI, the closest one is scheduled to be held in May – June of this year.
