The conference on nuclear cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United States of America: “Past accomplishments and Future Prospects” in the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI has successfully finished its work June, 5 2013.

Within the walls of MEPhI gathered scientists, experts and academics of the highest level to contemplate the past for the future. All who were present noted the special atmosphere in which the conference was held and the fruitfulness of the discussions. Special attention was paid to the choice of venue for the conference. The involvement of the MEPhI in nuclear research is believed to play its important part in the education of future generations of specialists.

The participants reviewed the joint cooperation between our two countries that today has more than a twenty-year-old history. The work that was conducted defined the outlines of the existing problems of nuclear safety and security and described the terms for the safe development of mankind.

The conference also helped set the stage for the discussion of future short-term and long-term cooperation. It is hoped that behind-the-scenes talks, which arose during the conference, will aid in our collaboration.

Although some of the questions caused a certain amount of discussion, keeping in mind the importance of the cooperation between Russia and the USA, the participants decided to publish a resolution for the governments of our two countries on the necessity of continuing our joint efforts to shape a better and safer world.
