Today, on June 26, the annual International Youth Nuclear Forum Obninsk NEW will be held in Obninsk for the fourth time, in which the delegation of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI will actively participate.

The forum brought together more than 500 young professionals from 70 countries, and thousands more students will join online at 25 partner sites. High-ranking delegations will represent 10 countries. The main topic of the forum is the role of dreams as a source of personal, professional and technological development.
Among the distinguished guests of the event are Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, and Vladislav Shapsha, Governor of the Kaluga Region. The participants of the forum were IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and President of the World Nuclear Association Sama Bilbao y Leon. Rector of MEPhI Vladimir Shevchenko will speak at the panel session of the forum "Obninsk Tech – the present and future of nuclear education".
Vladimir Shevchenko will also be a moderator at the session on nuclear medicine. Irina Zavestovskaya, Professor of the Department of Semiconductor Quantum Electronics and Biophotonics at MEPhI, Deputy Director for Nuclear Medicine at the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, will speak at this session.

At the High-level Plenary session "Nuclear Energy in a Changing world: new opportunities for cooperation" will be presented by Muhiddin Umidov, a student of the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. In the evening, a concert organized by MEPhI will be held for the guests of the forum. Students of our university and partner universities will present musical and dance performances.
The MEPhI press service managed to talk with a participant of the forum, a graduate of the IATE of the National Research Nuclear University of MEPhI, an employee of the Tashkent branch of MEPhI Hassan Aloiddinov. "In the future, I see myself with MEPhI, I want to develop in a place with MEPhI, I want to work actively and participate in the life of the university. My career is going great, better than I expected – the Tashkent branch has already entrusted me with the position of deputy dean," said Hassan.

Obninsk NEW is the flagship international youth forum lasting one to two days, bringing together young professionals, students, researchers at the initial stages of their careers and future leaders in the field of nuclear energy and high technologies. Leading experts, government officials, and industry leaders participate as speakers and mentors, but the main audience is young people forming a new generation of the global nuclear community.
The event is supported by Rosatom State Corporation, the Government of the Kaluga Region and the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.
The forum's program includes plenary reports by leading scientists, senior government officials and heads of large organizations, as well as panel discussions on the future of nuclear energy, technological development and international cooperation. In the days before and after the forum, a broader program of thematic events is held in Obninsk: specialized sessions, workshops and meetings.
In 2026, the forum is being held as part of an anniversary program dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the city of Obninsk, the 80th anniversary of the Leipunsky Institute of Physics and Energy, as well as significant dates in the Russian nuclear industry.
