On June 09, 2026, the 17th annual international university ranking RUR World University Ranking 2026 was published. The National Research Nuclear University MEPhI took 2nd place among Russian universities and 114th place in the world.

The RUR rating agency conducted a study of more than 2,400 universities, which resulted in a ranking that included 1,313 universities from 99 countries. At the same time, over the past 5 years, the number of universities participating in the ranking has increased by more than 50%. Universities were evaluated according to 20 indicators characterizing the main areas of university activity – education (40%), scientific research (40%), international activities (10%), financial stability (10%). The first place in the ranking was taken by Harvard University.
