The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has re-united the communities of experts on fast neutron reactors and related fuel cycles by organizing the International Conference on Fast Neutron Reactors and Related Fuel Cycles: Sustainable Clean Energy of the Future (FR26). Georgy Tikhomirov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Technology at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Evgeny Kulikov, Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Experimental Nuclear Reactor Physics, and Alexander Ryzhkov, engineer of the same Department, took part in the conference with oral presentations.

"Participation in a conference of this level with presentations once again demonstrates the level of MEPhI's developments in the field of modeling innovative nuclear installations and confirms MEPhI's status as an IAEA Cooperation Center," said Georgy Tikhomirov.

An “Event for the Younger Generation” was organized at the FR26 conference, aimed at involving the younger generation in the development of innovative fast neutron systems. As part of the event, the organizers selected the best reports from young researchers, and Alexander Ryzhkov became one of the five nominees.

The FR26 conference was organized by the People's Republic of China through the China Atomic Energy Institute (CIAE) in Beijing. This conference is a continuation of the previous successful IAEA conferences in Kyoto (2009), Paris (2013), Yekaterinburg (2017) and Vienna (2022).
The conference was attended by over 400 participants from 30 countries and four international organizations.
Fast neutron reactors and their associated fuel cycles are widely recognized as key to the long-term sustainability of nuclear power.
