World Engineering Day is celebrated on March 4. This professional holiday of engineers, scientists and inventors was established on the initiative of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and established by a resolution of the UNESCO General Conference in 2019.

Multipurpose Muon Detector (MDM)
MEPhI has every reason to consider this holiday its own. The epithet "engineering physics" is present in the historical name of the university, and our university has always been proud to produce highly qualified physics engineers.
Various engineering developments are constantly being carried out within the walls of our university. The whole country knows about our satellite engines, the MYTHIST tokamak, and the ELF laser installation under construction. But there are many more such achievements. Let us recall some of the engineering developments made by mythologists in recent years.
So, over the past 3 years, our scientists have developed:
- Atomic tomograph "AtoTom" for studying the structure of materials at the atomic level.
- The first Russian three-quadrupole mass spectrometer.
- The Multipurpose Muon Detector (MDM) is a large–scale facility for studying cosmic rays in a wide range of energies and zenith angles.
- A complex for operational diagnostics of electric drive fittings of nuclear power plants (SOD EPA).
- The Svarog-1 space satellite.
- Installation of a PRISM for studying thermal neutron fluxes.
- Prototype of a portable device for detecting microcracks and other defects in metal surfaces by scanning contact potentiometry.
- The intelligent Barn Owl system, capable of evaluating the recording of a human voice to see if it is a voice deepfake.
- A prototype designed for the production of an electron source in Russia, one of the main components of radiation therapy systems.

Neutron radiation spectrometry and dosimetry stand
- A range of radioisotope monitoring devices for industrial equipment for the oil industry and metallurgy.
- Intelligent 3D printing control system.
- Prototype of a polariton photoreactor, an installation that allows increasing the efficiency of chemical reactions.
- The MILUINO complex, designed for testing and debugging software created for Russian-made microchips.
- Robotic xenon gamma-ray spectrometric complex.
- Neutron Rock Analyzer.
- Therapeutic LED wound disinfection device.
- Neutron radiation spectrometry and dosimetry stand.
- Muon tomograph.
- Correlation optical system for the recognition of rapidly changing images.
- A prototype of a nuclear battery.
We wish further success to our engineers!
