The second congress of graduates of the flagship universities of Rosatom was held in Myanmar

On January 21, the Second Congress of Graduates of the mainstay and Partner universities of the Rosatom State Corporation was held in Naypyidaw, on the basis of the State Polytechnic University, bringing together representatives of Russian and Myanmar scientific, educational and government structures. The event was held in a hybrid format — face—to-face and online - and became an important platform for strengthening international academic cooperation and developing the nuclear industry in the Asia-Pacific region.

The participants of the Congress were greeted by high—ranking representatives of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, graduates of Russian universities: Dr. Sai Kyaw Nine U, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Myanmar, Zaw Win Nine, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Electric Energy of Myanmar, and Colonel Hlaing Min U, representative of the Ministry of Defense of Myanmar.

 

From the Russian side, Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Andrey Yunak, Adviser to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Myanmar, and Valery Karezin, Director of the Project Office for International Education at Rosatom State Corporation, addressed the participants.

 

On behalf of the graduates, the participants were greeted by Colonel Wing Thu, an officer of the Myanmar Ministry of Defense and a graduate of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. Representatives of Rosatom's leading universities spoke about the current programs for foreign graduates and the role of universities in strengthening international academic ties: Olga Petukhova, Deputy Director of the Department of Organizational and Technical Support for International Activities at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the Moscow Energy Institute, Roman Korovkin, Head of the Department of International Cooperation at the Moscow State Technical University by N.E. Bauman.

 

As part of the scientific part of the MEPhI National Research Nuclear University Congress, a professional development program was organized for employees of ministries and universities in Myanmar.

 

Lectures on current topics of the nuclear industry were given by representatives of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI: Professor Elena Sarapultseva, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of the Department of the Institute of Biomedicine and Engineering Physics of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, lecture "Radiation Safety: natural and man-made sources of ionizing radiation", Artem Soroka, Associate Professor of the Department of Cybernetics of the Institute of Intelligent Cybernetic Systems of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Engineer of the Center for End-to-End Design of Microelectronics, lecture "Artificial intelligence in the nuclear industry".

 

The Congress ended with a ceremony of awarding certificates to participants of the professional development program and informal communication. The event confirmed the high level of bilateral cooperation in the field of education and science, as well as the significant role of graduates of Russian universities, including the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, in the development of Myanmar's strategic industries.
