An advanced engineering school has been opened on the basis of the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI with the support of Rosatom and Uzatom. The top 20 university students were selected to study there.

The opening ceremony of the school, held within the framework of the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern Problems of Physics, Energy and Thermal Engineering" held in Tashkent, was attended by Oleg Nagornov, First Vice-Rector of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Valery Karezin, Director of the Project Office for Educational Development and International Cooperation, Rosatom State Corporation, and Head of the Agency for the Development of Atomic Energy Uzatom" Azim Akhmedkhadzhayev and Shavkat Abdukamilov, Executive Director of the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. It should be recalled that in May of this year, Rosatom, Uzatom and the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI signed a trilateral agreement on the establishment of an engineering school based on the Tashkent branch of the university. Then it was noted that the School would become a platform for training specialists who would play a leading role in the development of nuclear energy in Uzbekistan.

"The National Research Nuclear University MEPhI is the methodological operator of the project to create advanced engineering schools in Russian universities. I hope this will help to introduce the best Russian practices of training highly qualified engineering personnel for the nuclear industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the staff of the Tashkent branch," commented Natalia Barbashina, Vice Rector of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, on the opening of the school.
"The conference has become an important platform for bringing together young scientists, leading experts and international partners. We see a high interest in scientific research and engineering solutions in the field of physics and energy, as well as real support from the state and international organizations. Of particular importance is the opening of an Advanced engineering School for Atomic energy and nuclear technologies, which will become a key element of the highly qualified personnel training system. I am confident that such events will form the human and intellectual foundation for the future energy of Uzbekistan and the entire region," said Shavkat Abdukamilov.
