On December 11, a delegation from the University of Hainan (People's Republic of China) visited MEPhI. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the expansion of cooperation in the field of education, in particular, the possibility of launching a joint master's degree program in IT.

The meeting was opened by the first vice-rector of MEPhI Oleg Nagornov. Wishing the guests fruitful work, he noted that our university has established a preparatory faculty for international students, where intensive Russian language training is conducted throughout the year.

Li Yihong, Head of the Department of Big Data Science at the Finance Department of Hainan University, expressed confidence that Chinese students who graduated from the joint bachelor's degree program with MEPhI would like to continue their studies by enrolling in the Master's degree program at the Nuclear University.

"We know what high–quality education MEPhI provides, we know what excellent teachers work here, and we would like students from China to graduate from the joint bachelor's degree program in Hainan with your university and enroll in the Master's degree program at MEPhI," said Li Yihong.

Dmitry Savkin, Vice-Rector of MEPhI, assured the foreign guests that such cooperation would also be interesting for the Russian side, and it is possible to develop a special master's degree program for graduates of Hainan University, when teaching will be conducted in English.

Representatives of Russian and Chinese universities are also planning to discuss the feasibility of introducing another joint bachelor's degree program into the educational agenda of Hainan University, this time in the field of Microelectronics.
