On November 11, the 4th meeting of the Joint Russian-Malaysian Commission for Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation and the Russian-Malaysian Educational Forum took place on Langkawi Island in Malaysia, attended by a delegation from the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI headed by Rector Vladimir Shevchenko.

Vladimir Shevchenko spoke at the plenary session of the forum, talking about the training of engineers of the future and the role of MEPhI as the coordinator of the Advanced Engineering Schools project.
The Rector of MEPhI also participated in the ceremony of signing cooperation agreements between the National Research Nuclear University of MEPhI, the Technical University of Malacca (UTeM) and the University of Putra (UPM), the country's leading universities. Then a ceremony of solemn exchange of agreements took place in the presence of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov and his Malaysian counterpart Zakir abd Kadir.
Cooperation with UTeM, which is located in the historic city of Malacca, is expected in the field of IT and artificial intelligence, including organizing summer schools, joint publications, and conferences.
Cooperation with Putra University, located in Kuala Lumpur, is expected on a wide range of issues, including particle physics, radiation technology, electronics and computer technology. Previously, this university had already been visited by a delegation from the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI headed by Vice-rector Nikolai Kargin.
The participants of the Russian-Malaysian Educational Forum discussed the increasing role of artificial intelligence in education, the internationalization of educational programs to individualize the training of unique specialists, and the future of joint Russian-Malaysian educational projects. As part of the commission's work, about 40 agreements were concluded between Russian and Malaysian universities and scientific institutes.
