Festival of cultures: the whole world is within the walls of MEPhI
07.11.2025

On November 5, our university hosted a bright and long–awaited event  the annual "Festival of Cultures", dedicated to National Unity Day. The holiday is designed to unite our multinational people, and the festival is dedicated to MEPhI students, among whom there are many foreigners.

In the morning, a large country fair unfolded in the coworking space of the Student Office. The guests of the festival could get acquainted with the culture of Uzbekistan, India, Egypt, Turkey, Cuba, Mongolia, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Russia and its regions. Here you could view unique souvenirs, take pictures with international students in national costumes and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of traditions of different nations.

The gastronomic part of the festival was of particular interest. It was a real culinary journey, where guests could taste a variety of dishes prepared according to national recipes. Cuban fried chicken, kuruza and juice bayo, samsa and sadza — you can try the most unexpected treats at the cultural festival.

A concert was held in parallel with the country fair. The rich creative program allowed the guests to get acquainted with original performances: the performance of music on the pimak, an unusual wind instrument of the North American peoples, and songs popular in Ecuador and Zambia. A dynamic part of the program was the Moscow Quadrille, presented by the organizers of the Mythical Ball, and a colorful traditional Indian dance performed by IFIBa students. In addition to bright creative performances, the festival guests were able to get acquainted with the history of Egypt and Mongolia, which were told by students who came from these countries.

Representatives of different cultures have created a common space filled with mutual understanding and respect, and the festival has once again proved that MEPhI is a true international family.
