16.08.2025

A participant of the project "Ambassadors of Russian Nuclear Education" from Bolivia, Wanda Natalia Camacho Vasquez, held a series of lectures in La Paz with the support of the Bolivian Atomic Energy Agency - ABEN and the Nuclear Physics Club. She spoke about the admission and study process and shared her experience of life in Russia.

Natalia Uanda is a second-year Master's student in Moscow at the Institute of Engineering Physics of Biomedicine of the National Research University MEPhI (IFIB NRNU MEPhI) in the field of Nuclear Physics and Technology. She decided to study nuclear medicine after her mother fell ill with cancer. Natalia Uanda dreamed of helping the same cancer patients.

"The decision to study in Russia seemed like an impossible dream to me at first. Six years ago, telling friends that you wanted to become a nuclear physicist was like saying you wanted to become an astronaut, no one even really knew what that meant. Why Russia? This is a very important question that I asked myself when I started studying at MEPhI. Russia has been developing the nuclear industry for many years and is one of the world leaders in this sector, so we have access to a developed infrastructure for study and research. During my studies, I had the opportunity to participate in practical classes, including observing the operation of a nuclear reactor. Studying in Russia opens up broad prospects for professional growth in the global market", said Natalia Wanda.

The first lecture was held within the framework of the International Book Festival in La Paz, the second – at the Higher University of San Andres – UMSA. A lecture is also planned at the Public University of El Alto – UPEA. About a hundred people took part in the events as listeners.
