By Order of Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Scientific Expert Council for the Development of Quantum Technologies was established under the Coordinating Council of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on Import Substitution, Technological Independence and Industrial Policy. Vladimir Shevchenko, Rector of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, has been appointed head of the new body.
The purpose of the new scientific expert council is to organize the interaction of business, research, educational organizations and government agencies for the development of quantum and related technologies, including technologies of quantum computing, quantum communications, quantum sensors, big data, advanced computing platforms, machine learning, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality.
The Scientific and Expert Council for the Development of Quantum Technologies will determine the strategic goals of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in the field of quantum technology development.
"Mastering quantum technologies is one of the most challenging and exciting challenges. When we talk about quantum technologies, we mean not only a new level of working with information, but also solving many problems of both fundamental and applied science that cannot be solved within the framework of existing technological platforms - from the diagnosis of diseases and the development of new drugs to the creation of innovative structural materials. Our country's leading universities, including the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, are already training highly qualified specialists who can contribute to the development of quantum technologies and ensure our country's stable position in the quantum technosphere," said Vladimir Shevchenko, Rector of MEPhI.
