On September 26, 2024, the results of research by the international rating agency Round University Rankings (RUR) on subject areas were published. RUR is one of the leading international university rankings and has been publishing them since 2010. For the first time, NRU MEPhI took 5th place among the best universities in the world in nuclear education and technology.

The publication presents 6 industry ratings (humanities; life sciences; medical sciences; natural sciences; social sciences; technical sciences) and 25 subject ones.
The RUR Nuclear Education and Technology 2024 ranking includes 337 universities in the world (for comparison, 301 universities in 2023). The assessment was carried out in 4 main areas of the university's activities: education, science, international activities, financial stability (20 indicators in total).

In addition, MEPhI ranked 39th in the world in the RUR Natural Sciences 2024 ranking (1st in Russia) and 56th in the world in the RUR Technical Sciences 2024 ranking (1st in Russia).
