On October 26, the results of research by the international ranking agency Round University Rankings (RUR) were published (https://roundranking.com/). MEPhI is represented in most subject rankings RUR 2023, and for the first time entered the TOP 50 best universities in the world simultaneously in 3 subject rankings.

Thus, MEPhI for the first time took 6th place in the world in the subject ranking of Nuclear Education and Technology (Massachusetts Institute of Technology is in the first place). In addition, MEPhI took 28th place in the world in the Technical Sciences subject ranking and 41st place in the world in the Natural Sciences subject ranking. In these 3 rankings, MEPhI took 1st place among the best Russian universities.

RUR is one of the leading ranking agencies evaluating the performance of universities around the world since 2010. In the presented ranking, in addition to the traditional 6 broad areas (humanities; life sciences; medical sciences; natural sciences; social sciences; technical sciences), for the first time the results of 26 rankings covering narrower subject areas are presented. More than 1,000 universities from 84 countries were ranked.

The assessment was carried out based on 20 indicators of 4 main areas of activity of the university: quality of teaching, quality of research, level of internationalization, level of financial stability. Objective statistical data from open sources was used, in particular, the bibliometric database “The Lens”, Google Search Engine Results Page, social media indicators of universities, etc.
