The Institute of Cyber Intelligence Systems (ICIS) of the MEPhI invites applicants for a new undergraduate program in information security "Design and development of secure hardware and software systems and distributed information systems."
ICIS Deputy Director Konstantin Kogos spoke about the benefits of the new program and answered questions from applicants.
“This is not an improved old, but a completely new program. We want to train guys who will be able to create complex infrastructure IT solutions,” Konstantin Kogos emphasized.
According to him, the program does not set itself the task of training narrow IT specialists. Graduates will be able to work in any high-tech company, as they will have extensive knowledge in the field of information security, skills in software development, and master the main programming languages. The program is aimed at training specialists to work on tasks related to the creation of products to ensure the technological independence of the country. The program combines blocks of disciplines in the following areas: software development, information security, radio engineering and electronics, electronic component base.
Among the unique subjects: orchestration technologies (coordination and management of complex computer systems and services), protection of critical information infrastructure objects, secure software development, containerization technologies (launching an application in isolation from the main operating system), microprocessor systems, security of computer networks and operating systems. And, of course, traditional disciplines - mathematics and physics - are also indispensable; a high-class IT specialist, Kogos believes, needs this knowledge.
Now, at the Institute of Cyber Cybernetic Systems, work is in full swing to equip a separate laboratory, where each student studying under the new program will be assigned a named place.
The operator and general partner of the new undergraduate program is Rosatom State Corporation, partners are large IT companies such as Elbrus, Kraftway, Security Code. It is here that third-year students will be trained.
“The program arose as a result of a huge shortage of personnel - companies need specialists who can develop complex software and hardware systems and distributed information systems. Our graduates will definitely not be left without work,” Konstantin Kogos is sure.
The program "Design and development of secure software and hardware systems and distributed information systems" full-time, designed for four years, provides for 85 budget and 20 paid places.
