On April 22, the Open Doors Day was held for the first time in the Almaty branch of the MEPhI. The guests had the opportunity to ask questions to the management of the branch, find out the new conditions for admission, get acquainted with the teachers of the main site of MEPhI, test their skills in the exact sciences, and, in general, feel the atmosphere of a technical university.

The head of the branch Askar Davletov addressed the audience with an opening speech and spoke about the creation and development prospects of the branch, about the areas of training implemented in it and the learning process.
A detailed presentation of educational programs offered to applicants in 2023 was presented by their leaders. Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Nuclear Physics and Technology, Deputy Head of the MEPhI team in the ATLAS experiment (CERN) Evgeny Soldatov spoke about the features of the bachelor's program "Particle Physics and Space Physics", and the head of the educational department of the Institute of Intelligent Cybernetic systems associate professor Ilya Chugunkov - about the bachelor's and master's programs "Protected High-Performance Computing Systems".
Vladimir Skrytny, Executive Secretary of the MEPhI Admissions Committee, answered numerous questions from the audience about the rules for entering the branch and the benefits for admission.
The first students of the branch made a welcoming speech to potential applicants and their parents. Freshmen Aziza Akhmetbekova and Alibek Bakdaulet shared their impressions of the first year of study, talked about their career expectations, and wished them good luck in passing the entrance exams.
The guests listened to an online lecture by Professor Sergei Rubin on the topic "Physics Today and Tomorrow" and took part in a competition for the best knowledge of physics and mathematics. The winners were awarded with souvenirs with MEPhI symbols.
