The New MEPhI Hostel Is Preparing to Receive the First Tenants

The new building of the MEPhI student hostel is preparing to receive students. Settlement is scheduled to begin in August, after the admission campaign, said Andrey Brandin, Deputy Director of the Procurement Directorate of MEPhI.

The 17-storey dormitory building with two entrances, with an area of more than 16,000 square meters, is located a 10-minute walk from the university's academic buildings. It will be able to comfortably accommodate 836 students.

Students will live in 194 one-, two- and three-room apartments, two to a room. In addition to living rooms, each apartment has a kitchen, an entrance hall, a corridor, a bathroom, a toilet and balconies. Bathrooms in one-room apartments are combined, and in two- and three-room apartments they are separate.

All apartments are fully equipped for a comfortable life and preparation for classes. They have not only furniture, but also household appliances - built-in hobs, ovens, washing machines and refrigerators.

Apartments for students occupy from the 2nd to the 17th floors of the building. Administrative and public premises are located on the ground floor. For students with limited mobility, two one-room apartments with a separate entrance have been prepared.

“The new hostel is equipped with co-working spaces, an active sports area with a sports ground and outdoor exercise equipment, bike parking and parking. Pedestrian paths and driveways for cars are equipped around the building, trees are planted and flower beds are laid out. The conditions for a barrier-free environment for people with limited mobility have been met; The car park has dedicated parking spaces. The hostel will continue to form a unified campus environment at MEPhI,” Andrey Brandin explained.

Earlier it was reported that the building had already received permission for commissioning, and the specialists of the Moscow City Bureau of Technical Inventory assigned the new hostel the address "Moscow city, intracity territory of the municipal district Moskvorechye-Saburovo, Moskvorechye street, house 19, building 2".

The project is financed by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science with the participation of the State Corporation Rosatom.
