Over the past 20 years, the nuclear university has trained about 500 highly qualified specialists for the economy of Myanmar, Vladimir Shevchenko noted. Basically, these are specialists who studied under the programs of technical physics, electronics, microelectronics, applied mathematics, informatics and computer technology. Today, 11 citizens of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar are studying at the preparatory faculty and 9 at the university's master's program.

The Minister of Science and Technology of Myanmar, Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, thanked the representatives of MEPhI for cooperation in the field of training specialists.

“MEPhI graduates are successfully working for the benefit of the Myanmar economy. The Ministry of Science and Technology has very good relations and close ties with the MEPhI University, and we hope that in the future our partnership will help us achieve great success,” he said.

Representatives of Myanmar visited the NEVOD Center, the Interdepartmental Laboratory of Experimental Nuclear Physics, the Nanocenter and the Engineering Center of MEPhI with an excursion.

Earlier, in September 2022, at the Eastern Economic Forum, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Electricity of Myanmar signed a roadmap for cooperation in the peaceful use of atomic energy for 2022-2023 with Rosatom State Corporation. The provisions of the document provide, among other things, for the possible implementation of a nuclear power plant project with low-power reactors in Myanmar, the formation of a positive public opinion regarding nuclear energy, as well as training for the national nuclear industry.
