Dmitry Zakharov, a 2nd-year master's student at Institute of Cyber Intelligence Systems (ICIS) of the MEPhI, won first place in the profile "Cryptographic and mathematical methods for ensuring information security" at the All-Russian open competition for the best scientific work in the field of information security among students of specialized universities.

Dmitry is studying in the direction "Theoretical and practical cryptography" of the "Information security" department. His work is devoted to the analysis of the vulnerabilities of the block cipher system "Granule" based on the methods of impossible differences and invariant subspaces. The obtained results can be used for the synthesis of new block cipher systems based on Feistel transforms without the revealed weaknesses.

Supervisor - Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of ICIS, head of the educational program "Theoretical and Practical Cryptography" Marina Pudovkina.

The diploma of the winner of the competition was presented to Dmitry by the rector of MEPhI Vladimir Shevchenko.

The All-Russian open competition for the best scientific work of students of educational institutions of higher education implementing educational programs in the field of information security is held annually as part of the Federal Project "Information Security".
