MEPhI enters the top 3 Russian universities in the Best Global Universities U.S. News & World Report 2021 (https://www.usnews.com/education/best-global-universities) ranking and increases its presence to 6 directions. The university also takes the 34th place in the world in the Physics subject ranking.

MEPhI (445th place in the world) enters the top three universities in Russia together with Lomonosov Moscow State University (324) and MIPT (438). Also, the university for the first time takes the 34th place in the world and the second in Russia in the U.S. News & World Report Physics subject ranking, having improved its position by 8 positions in a year.

Another achievement of MEPhI is that the university enters the Best Global Universities U.S. News & World Report 2021 ranking in 6 areas - "Physics", "Optics", "Space Science", "Materials Science", "Chemistry" and "Engineering" (in 2020, the university was represented in only two subject areas, "Physics" and "Chemistry").
