MEPhI became the third among Russian universities (4th place in 2020) and improved its position in the overall international ranking, taking 26th place in The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2022.

THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2022 includes universities from 54 emerging economies: China, Brazil, India, South Africa (BRICS countries), Turkey, Mexico and others. This year, the study included 698 universities.

The rankings use the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings to judge institutions on their teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. However, they have different weightings to reflect the development priorities of universities in emerging economies.
