International conference “Industry challenges in the digital age. Prospects for implementation and risks” held in online mode

On April 22-23, the Institute of Financial Technologies and Economic Security of MEPhI held the International Practical Conference “Industry challenges in the Digital Age. Prospects for implementation and risks. ” The conference was held in full remote mode for the first time.

The plenary session was opened by the chairman of the conference organizing committee, deputy director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, director of IFTES MEPhI Vladimir Glotov. He noted that the development of the digital economy of Russia are required training specialists focused on new technological development, increasing the effectiveness of the research agenda, and exchanging of experience. “It is important to take into account all aspects of the digital transformation of Russia and other countries. The participation of teachers, researchers, and businessman from different countries ensures the effectiveness of our event”.

Acting Vice-Rector of MEPhI, Head of the Department of Economic Development Vladimir Uzhva; Director of the International Network AML / CFT Institute, First Deputy General Director of the ITMCFM Vladimir Ovchinnikov; Head of the Personnel and Anti-Corruption Department of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service Anna Frolova; Professor of Department of Criminal Law, Process and Criminalistics, Deputy Dean for Scientific Work KarSU named after Academician E.A. Buketov Botagoz Amanzholova addressed their welcoming speech to the participants.

At the round table the speackers was discussed the topic “Actual tasks of the digital university development” and made presentations.

On the second day of the conference, open lectures were held on the topic “AML / CFT Trends: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”. The moderator was Nikolai Morozov, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Department of Financial Monitoring, IFTES MEPhI.

The following topics were presented to listeners:

— “To the issue of developing a model for assessing money laundering risk proposed by the Wolfsberg Group”, Pavel Leonov, Associate Professor, Department of Financial Monitoring of IFTES MEPhI, Ph.D., certified auditor

— “Issues of the generalization of judicial practice in cases of terrorist and extremist crimes in the context of digitalization”, Botagoz Amanzholova, Professor of the Department of Criminal Law, Process and Criminalistics, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Deputy Dean for Research, KarSU named after Academician E.A. Buketov;  Aigul Kalguzhinova, Senior Lecturer, Department of Criminal Law, Process and Criminalistics

— “Theory and practice of a risk-based approach in the banking system of the Kyrgyz Republic”, Bakytbek Alisherov, Director of the Training Center of the State Service of Financial Intelligence under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic; Cholpon Nuralieva, Doctor of Economic Science, Professor of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University; Ayday Duyshenalieva, Ph.D., Associate Professor.

— “Development and implementation of measures for parallel financial investigations for successful detection and investigation of ML / FT facts”, Ihoris Krzeczkowskis, Associate Professor of Department of Financial Monitoring MEPhI, International Expert and Consultant on ML / FT Issues of UN, European Union, and Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (Moneyval) head of the European Anti-Fraud Office the working group.

Also, two student sections were held - “AML / CFT System: Challenges and Threats in the Digital Age” and “Macro and Microeconomics: Current Trends in the Digital Age”.  More than 30 reports were presented.

The conference was attended by students, teachers, and experts from Russia, India, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan.

More than 90 articles were sent to the conference; scientific articles are planned to be published with indexing at the RSCI.

The Conference “Industry challenges in the digital age. Prospects for implementation and risks” continued the discussion that laid down by“ traditional ”conferences. It confirmed that the remote form of the meeting allows us to successfully solve the scientific tasks and to attract the audience.
