MEPhI — in five subject rankings QS and top-100 the best universities for Physics & Astronomy

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK-based global higher education company released the latest edition of the World University Rankings by Faculty and Subject.

In this year MEPhI is represented in five subject rankings. Six times in a row MEPhI has retained its status as one of the 100 best universities for Physics & Astronomy and as one of the top 150 best universities for Natural Science.

The university has improved its standings in Engineering & Technology rankings and has moved up to five points (285-th place). MEPhI has taken 351-400 slot in the world in Mathematics, and also has entered the subject ratings of Materials Sciences (301-350 place), Electrical & Electronic Engineering (301-350 place) and Computer Science & Information Systems (401-450 place).

On March 4, International News Agency “Russia Today” hosted the Moscow-London video bridge on the topic “QS rating in areas of study: the movement of Russian universities”. Representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Culture, as well as representatives a number of Russian universities discussed the results of the published ratings. Zoya Zaitseva, QS Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, took part in the event from London via videolink. The participants of the event discussed the dynamics of Russian universities promotion, its strengths and weaknesses, as well as the ways to achieve better results.
