26-30 October, the IV International Symposium and youth school “Engineering and Physical Technologies of Biomedicine”, organized by the Engineering Physics Institute of Biomedicine, took place at MEPhI. The program of the Symposium included presentations of invited speakers, as well as a poster section for young scientists and graduate students.

More than 200 participants, including leading experts from Russia, Germany, France, England, Finland and other countries, discussed issues in the field of biotechnology, bioengineering, theranostics and nuclear medicine.

The keynote speaker at the international symposium was the head of the Nanoengineering group, professor of University of Hanover Boris Chichkov.

A youth school was held as part of the symposium. Leading foreign and Russian experts presented scientific and educational lectures on the main topics of the symposium: modern materials and methods for MRI and PET, nanotechnology for biomedicine, laser technology for the production of new materials for biomedical applications, nuclear nanomedicine, nanoteranostics.

It is important to note that participants were not only graduate students and students of  the Moscow site of MEPhI, but also students of the MEPhI branches  — SarFTI, DITI, IATE. Students of other Russia and CIS countries universities also took an active part in the youth school.

The International Symposium “Engineering and Physical Technologies of Biomedicine” annually gathers outstanding leaders in the field of bionanophotonics, nanoteranostics, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. It gives a new impulse to research on the fight against various socially significant diseases and allows us to determine the most promising ways of developing biomedicine.
